ID Music Meets Root Strata Inna Big Bend Style

Inter-Dimensional Music – the top-rated “New Age Talk” broadcast in the Big Bend since 2010! – returns to the airwaves tonight, Sunday March 1, 2015 from 9-11pm on Marfa Public Radio. Also always streaming live at marfapublicradio.org, and *rarely* archived at interdimensionalmusic.com.

We’ll be joined in studio tonight by itinerant Root Stratan Maxwell August Croy, who’s returned to Far West Texas for self-imposed exile/residency. We hope to hear more of the music he’s been working on, including a soon-coming collaboration with another friend of the show, cosmic harpist Mary Lattimore. We’ll also be talking high desert mind expansion strategies while cycling through psychedelic folk music (watch for the obligatory Dead jam), and maybe some downpressing folk metal so as to make sure our silver linings have more than a touch of grey.

We’ll also get into some music from the Marfa Myths festival, which arrives in these high desert grasslands on March 13 for a weekend of sound bathing, tape chanting and other irie activities featuring New Age-allies well known to ID Music listeners, such as Bitchin Bajas, Grouper and Jefre-Cantu Ledesma. Keep an eye on Marfa Public Radio and Ballroom Marfa for more coverage.

We’ll be back later this March with more news about Chambo’s next installation, a collection of photo-based works informed in part by the writings of Victorian proto-ecologist (and erotophobe?) John Ruskin. Fresh lichen prints are making their way to Marfa from Color Wheel Digital in Baltimore, destined for the expanding plant-mind meditation zone already in progress at Etherington Art.

August ID Music Tonight!

Swale-+-Blossom-1
Swale + Blossom at Mary Etherington
Inter-Dimensional Music, the Big Bend’s longest running New Age + Cosmic Metal radio program returns this Sunday, August 3 from 9-11pmon Marfa Public Radio
In the 9 o’clock hour we’ll be playing new music from friend and former Marfa-dweller Celia Hollander (aka $3.33) alongside gentle drones from Ashan plus a mysterious nugget of jingle-jangle psychedelic goodness by William Whichman. Our thanks to Matthew in Denver — New Age tape collector and friend of the show — for the hook up.
Things turn choogly from 10-11pm as cosmic metal riddims commence. This month we’re looking at the psychoactive ecological system seeded by the band Sleep, playing brand new music from the venerated Hasheeshians themselves, alongside the kindred mystical heaviness of Yob, Om and the Wackies Rhythm Force.
If you’re out here in Far West Texas tune in from 9-11p (CST) on the first Sunday of each month at KRTS 93.5 FM in Marfa, KRTP 91.7 FM in Alpine and KDKY 91.5 FM in Marathon. You can stream ID Music live at marfapublicradio.org
We are also available by computer at interdimensionalmusic.com and bandcamp.com/interdimensionalmusic.
Also! If you find yourself out here on the high desert grasslands, ID Music host Daniel Chamberlin’s Swale + Blossom installation is on view for the rest of August at Mary Etherington, 124 E. El Paso in Marfa, Texas. More info here.

ID Music Tonight: Monsoon Mellows and Cosmic Metal

ID-Music_Real-News2

The #1 New Age radio broadcast in the Big Bend of Far West Texas returns to the airwaves tonight from 9-11pm CST — that’s right now — with monsoon conjuring music from Valet, Aerial Jungle, Softest and J.D. Emmanuel. In the second hour we’ll be exploring the outer limits of “blackened New Age” with music from Agalloch and Ash Borer, the latter hot off their Marfa debut to a confused crowd at Padre’s last week.

This is happening now. If you’re out here in Far West Texas tune in from 9-11p (CST)  at KRTS 93.5 FM in Marfa, KRTP 91.7 FM in Alpine and KDKY 91.5 FM in Marathon. You can also stream the show live at marfapublicradio.org.

Inter-Dimensional Music for June 1, 2014

ID Music June 2014

Inter-Dimensional Music returns to the shimmering Far West Texas airwaves tonight, bringing heat stroke-averse visions from across the kosmiche spectrum.

Our summer doom mantra mix includes some heavy contemplative music from Ben Frost, Sunn O))) & Ulver, and Leyland Kirby. A high altitude chill descends as the sun fades and bats swoop through the twilight: Look for XYR, M. Geddes Gengras and Laraaji in the second hour.
Tune in from 9-11pm (cst) at 93.5 FM here in the Big Bend, or worldwide at marfapublicradio.org.

Arp meets ID Music for a TX-Size New Age Showdown

ID Music:Real News

Inter-Dimensional Music is back on the Marfa Public Radio airwaves Sunday from 9-11pm (CST). That’s tonight!

We’ll start off with conversation + a selection of proto-New Age vibes from Alexis Georgopolous of Arp. The full configuration of Arp performs here in Marfa as part of Ballroom Marfa and Mexican Summer’s free festival next Saturday, March 8, at El Cosmico. Quilt, No Joy, Weyes Blood and Connan Mockasin too. More on that at Ballroom Marfa.

Second hour is yours truly rolling through a set of rusticated Aquarian visions inspired in part by hearing that MV & EE cover of “Shotgun Willie” that’s being passed around. Puff puff give!

Also! ID Music is co-presenting the New Bums show coming up on March 11 at the Marfa Book Co., so we’ll likely get into some old bum music from Skygreen Leopards and Six Organs of Admittance.

We’ll see you on-air tonight at 93.5FM or marfapublicradio.org, and online whenever at interdimensionalmusic.com. We’ll post up some archived shows someday …

P.S. if you’re in Marfa and want to take a look at the South Plateau Adobe Ruin squat installation that’s happening next door to my house, drop me a line and we’ll connect.

P.P.S. Our pals at Arthur Magazine are in the final hours of a massive once-in-a-lifetime closeout sale, including the ID Music “Backcountry Chillout” mixtape. CHECK OUT THESE DEALS!
